UPDATE (Jan. 30, 2024) - Per NCDOT, they are beginning repairs to the culvert crossing on South Fork Road. Weather pending, the new completion date is estimated to be March 1.
...
NCDOT has closed South Fork Road at the concrete culvert crossing. This was an emergency closure due to pipe/roadway failure from the heavy rain on Sunday. South Fork Road is open on either side of the culvert crossing but is impassable in that area.
According to NCDOT, it will take them at least 2-3 weeks to repair and reopen South Fork Road. In the meantime, please use Old Monroe Road and Indian Trail Road as a detour.
The Town will provide additional updates as we receive them.
